Unraid Webui not working after a few days of uptime

Featured Replies

Hello,

I have been troubleshooting this issue for a few weeks. Unraid webui stops working after about 3 days uptime. This started about 2 weeks ago and reboot help the issues but again after 2-3 days webui becomes unresponsive. I thought first thought that /var/logs was becoming full but the webui was unresponsive prior to the logs becoming full. I have attached a few different logs prior to reboots.

Let me know how else I can gather information

Some strange errors that usually start with this:

Jun 8 09:18:04 RAID emhttpd: error: publish, 256: Connection reset by peer (104): read

Not sure what this is about but you could try booting the server in safe mode to see if it's plugin related.

after rebooting it worked for a 2 days then my docker containers stopped working. My VMs were still functioning okay. Very strange behavior. The only new plugin I installed recently is the file manager by dynamix. I just powered down the whole server to give it a rest as I was getting frustrated.

If anyone has nay insight that would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

After rebooting about week ago I can no longer reach the webui. Log is not full. I gather diagnostics again here they are. Really looking for help here. I did not make any changes that I am aware of to the system and previously it would run for 5 months without issue.

Thank you for you help

Did you try

ok I will try that. would safe mode tell me if it is a plugin issue? Or just waiting and seeing the uptime?

Currently docker containers, VMs and Shares still work. It is just the webui not loading.

Thank you again

According to those diagnostics sr0 is your flash drive, which was also connected as sdb

Do you have a flash backup?

Are you booting from USB2 port (recommended)?

Definitely strange.  Your BIOS thinks that your flash drive is also a CDROM drive, and reporting it as such.  TBH, my first suggestion would be to restore the factory defaults in the BIOS.

I was trying to use a different flash drive. But for some reason none of the ones I made using the creator have been bootable not sure why.

And yeah it may be the u3 as it's a SanDisk. I will try reset my bios and using the same flash drive.

Can I make a flash backup now of this USB? I'm currently in safe mode with GUI

Thank you all for your time

All you need is the config folder from flash to get your configuration back on a new install.

  • Author

yes! and that's what I have tried but for some reason my server just says no bootable media. Like the flash drive didn't get made correctly with the unraid usb creator tool. I will try some different USB ports and see.

Thank you!

yes, I have been using the creator tool and having the issue where it hangs on syncing files system. I found a thread on it but it wasn't helping. I will review the thread you posted trurl thank you

okay! that worked I switched USB drives and unraid is starting properly. However I am having issues starting my VM. even if I a remove the usb from the VM still will not start see log attached.

now I will wait to see if I get longer than 4 days of uptime before the GUI stop working.

Thank you again for all your help! This community is GREAT!

What do you mean? Are you trying to passthru a USB controller?

  • Author

I had a usb stick passed through to a VM. and it was working fine before I tried swapping USB boot devices. now I cannot start this VM if I untick the usb device:

So I was able to switch USB drives and I had decent uptime. Then my 48 core xeon server spiked to 100% on all cores randomly. I was bale to get a diagnostics off before I rebooted it : raid-diagnostics-20220706-1628.zip

Now The webpage is not loading again. But all of my docker containers and VMs work fine and I can SSH. Here is a diagnostics now with the webui not loading: raid-diagnostics-20220708-0836.zip

Thank you for all your help thus far it has been immensely helpful

There's an OOM error, other than that it's clean, see if you can limit resources to docker/VMs.

  • Author

Thank you JorgeB! What is an OOM error? I did just install a new docker "checkmk" so I rebooted and uninstalled it.
