Hi guys,

I'm just putting some hardware list together for my 1st unRaid server and Im doing a budget build. I will start with 4x 2TB wd green with one as parity drive and later on i want to expand the array to 8 disks with some SATA card.

Case: CoolerMaster Centurion 590

PSU: Fortron SAGA II 500W

MB: MSI 760GM-E51 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130254&Tpk=N82E16813130254

CPU: AMD Sempron 140 Sargas 2.7GHz with stock AMD cooler http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103698&Tpk=Sempron%20140

Ram: 2x 2GB Kingston DDR3

HD: 4x WD20EARS, latest model w/o jumpers.

USB Drive: Corsair Voyager 8gb with unRaid 4.7 pro

Only thing im not sure about is this mobo, do you guys have any experience with this board ? I saw on the MSI page ( http://www.msi.com/product/mb/760GM-E51.html#?div=Detail) that is has a Realtek 8111DL NIC does that work well with unraid 4.7 ? And will my 500w PSU do the job for 8 drives ?

*Note* I'm in a very small country in EU and hardware here is limited and my only option is buying a MSI board AMD/Intel.

I'm not sure it has been tested much yet, but that MSI board should be fine.  Nothing about it indicates incompatibility with unRAID.

I doubt your PSU will work in the long term.  Can you find a page of tech specs for it?  I suspect it has multiple +12V rails, but I can't find much information about it.  For just 4 drives it will probably be fine, but eventually you'll want to upgrade to a good quality PSU with a single 12V rail.  Corsair, Antec NeoEco, and Seasonic are the best brands.  See this thread for lots of info.

All the rest of your hardware looks fine.  An 8 GB flash drive is a bit overkill for unRAID, but it should work.  I have a 16 GB Corsair Voyager that I use as a regular flash drive (not for unRAID), and it works fine, though it is a bit slow.

Quick replay  :)

I cant find any details about that PSU but I just saw my local shop has a Corsair CX 500W for a little bit more than the Fortron PSU, I will get the Corsair drive for more future proof build i think.

The 8GB drive is just a spare drive that I own and dont use anymore so I figured that it would save me some money, will this drive slow down my whole unraid array or just my bootup time ?

Just your boot up time, and even then it really isn't a big deal.  Go ahead and use the Corsair Flash drive, just keep in mind that if you aren't satisfied with your boot times that upgrading it to something faster will help.

The Corsair PSU is a much better option.
