How to improve SMB speeds

Featured Replies

CPU: Intel 8400

MB: Intel z-37–a
RAM: 16 GB 2666 mhz

Cache Drive: 1 TB NVME

Array: 4 x WD Red 4 TB

UD: EXOS 18TB

All drives are Sata

I can do a speed test (via docker) and get 2.5gbps (switch is only 2.5 gbps) but other then that, I can only transfer date to the array at ~150-250 mbps. Sometimes it does spike a bit faster but never any sustain speeds above 250mbps.

Is there a different protocol I can use that would allow me to mount the drive in macOS and also be faster?

I’m trying to figure out if my hardware is limiting me or is it another setting or something else.

I’m sure I’m not the first to ask this so if there’s another thread that addresses this, let me know what look for in that thread.

I don't use macs but there are some optimizations you can do in Unraid to get better SMB performance with macOS, try searching the forum.
