Folder name changed to odd name out of nowhere on disk but looks right on share

Featured Replies

I had a directory called Documentaries on my share. Just started going through it today to organize it more.

I went to one of my disks instead of my share and on each disk, the folder name changed to DORR9L~W    On the share it still shows the correct. Also one of my folders under that has a simmilar odd name but on my main share, it looks right.

What is going on?

We need a syslog and a hardware breakdown before we can really give any directed advice.

look at the stick at the top of the forum for instructions on getting the syslog.  If you are on 5.0b6a like you mention then you may be able to get it from the unRAID webGUI.

ok will do.

One thing I did notice, is I put a ? in a folder name by mistake and that is about the same time that this all happened. The subfolder with the ? is the other folder that get renamed to a weird name.

I will get the info needed.

Weird, if I browse to it from the webpage, it looks ok but if I browse to an individual smb disk, that is where I see the odd folder name. Update.. when browsing through the webpage, it doesn't show any files under the directory. Unmenu file browser shows correct folder name and lets me see files under it.

I was looking at individual disks yesterday and did not notice the problem so I believe it happened this morning. I started using it at about 8:45am maybe.
