Cache Pool Size and Free do not match

Dear community,

 

i am unable to wrap my head around the reported stats of my newly created cache pool:

 

I have 3 x 960 GB drives in this pool.

 

Going by the btrfs calculator this should result in 1.4 TB usable space. This is somewhat reported as "Size" but "Free" only shows 960 GB:

Why is that? What am i missing here? Am i only able to use 960 GB?

    It is a known issue with btrfs (particularly with an odd number of drives) that those sizes do not add up.   As the pool gets nearer full then the size of the discrepancy gets smaller.
