remove one disk from btrfs cache with raid1

I have a 3 disk btrfs cache with raid1,  I'd like to remove one disk from the cache,  can I simple use

 

btrfs device delete 3 /mnt/cache

 

or

 

I need to stop the array, remove one disk from the cache pool and start the array again?

    You can use the command above but then would need to reset the pool with Unraid before next array start, best to use the the other option.
