May 25, 201115 yr I have a cache drive used for apps. I don't need the cache drive as a true cache drive (speed improvement). I found out the hard way that it is not enough to diasble cache usage in share but also disable the mover script as described: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=10027.0 1. Did I forget anything else? I did this too late and lost my cache drive file. Where do the files go if there are no shares defined needing the cache function? 2. Can they still be recovered? I have not booted since then yet.
May 25, 201115 yr A new share would have been created if one did not exist. If one did, then the files would still be moved there. The cache being disabled just means that data written to the server will bypass being saved to the cache drive. If you write data directly to that drive it will still be moved. Just start the server up and search through the disk shares to see where the files might have gone. Move them back to the cache drive and make sure the mover script is disabled like you want... or put a leading "." (period) in from of the folder name you don't want moved.
