May 26, 201115 yr So I am busy moving my 8TB of pRon to my new unraid server, have not put in a parity yet until everything has moved to facilitate speediness of the process. My question is once all my files are moved they are not yet organized how I want them, should I organize first then run parity or should I run parity after all files are moved and then organize. Will the parity have to be rebuilt every time I put the files in new organizational folders etc? The files are on the right disks, just some may have incorrect file names or not organized in folders. Thanks

Thanks Once you assign a parity disk, parity is maintained in real-time. You can move and re-organize the files as you like even while it is calculating parity initially. Joe L.
May 27, 201115 yr From disk to disk will have a performance hit. If you are moving them or renaming them on the same drive you will see very little difference. At least that is what I have seen.
