May 27, 201115 yr I've got a small 9-bay tower with three 5in3 cages for a total of 15 drives. It's a small case, so space is limited. Does anyone know where to get inexpensive, short SATA Latching cables? I've found a ton of the right angle ones, but I need straight to straight, or side to straight due to my cages. The cheapest I have found is around $3 each shipped. I'm sick of the 18"+ cables that have turned my case into a rat's nest with only 6 drives. I'd hate to see it with all 15 drives installed.
May 27, 201115 yr Monoprice is the best source of cables. The new standard length appears to be 18 in, though, which I understand is not very short. I don't know of a good source of cables shorter than 18 in.
May 27, 201115 yr Weird. They do still carry one 10 inch cable. Nothing like the variety I remember last time I shopped. http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10226&cs_id=1022602&p_id=2887&seq=1&format=2 Cooldrives has 5 and 9inch under $1.5. http://www.cooldrives.com/lasaii30sida.html They import some strangely cool stuff sometimes, too.
May 27, 201115 yr Ebay...? 12 inch... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/12in-Latching-SATA-Cable-LSATA12-/360302613537 6 inch... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/6in-Latching-SATA-Cable-/360338213566 Probably worth shopping around. Note also that many vendors use metric dimensions (30cm or 15cm for these lengths) so you may need to tweak your Ebay searches.
May 27, 201115 yr Author Monoprice was the first place I looked, but they only have 18"+ cables with the exception of that lone blue UV 10" cable. I scoured ebay earlier today, and I found a few, but since I need differing sizes, shipping from multiple listing gets pricey fast. I found some at the following sites: http://www.performance-pcs.com http://www.satagear.com http://www.frozencpu.com I think it'll end up being around $3 shipped for each cable which isn't terrible, but when you consider places like MEritline have a 5 pack of 18" cables for 99 cents shipped it kind of stings.
