2 ISP Connections (1 direct, 1 lan) no DNS :(

Featured Replies

First I want to apologize, I found a few similar threads but none really helped.

TLDR: I have FiOptics, 1g x 1g internet.

I am using 2 wan ports on my  router with technically two connections

I have 2 lans configured on my router

192.168.1.0/24 (I only want to use this for internet connection for unraid)

192.168.2.0/24 (internal LAN for computers, devices, and the unraid server uplinks via 10g to the 10g switch on this subnet so my computers on this lan can backup, access plex without transcode etc..)

So the main problem is, i am not sure how to configure the connections on unraid to only use the public ip / 1g network for internet access and then only use 192.168.1.x network for lan activity. Also, it appears when i setup /enable both connections my DNS doesn't work anymore, even with hardcoding 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1 (or googles 8.8.8.8). But if I disable one of those nics the custom DNS works fine.

Here is a diagram of my network how i want it. Sorry if this is a open ended question :(

1st, there are no 192.168.2.0/24 show in Unraid setup. 2nd the 10G NIC seems be eth0,1, but you set to 192.168.1.0/24.

You should rearrange the 10G NIC be eth0 with static setting 192.168.2.x ** without ** gateway and set the 1G NIC be 192.168.1.x with gateway i.e. automatic setting fine.

Hello,

Stumbled across your post regarding this setup, and if you were able to figure it out successfully?
My setup differs a bit as I have (2X) gateways with (2X) different WAN connections.

Plan:
Looking to understand how to setup the UnRaid server so the following takes place:

  • (1X) onboard NIC
    • This NIC has a gateway on the network as well as a WAN1 connection. Would like to to use this NIC for internal communications only. I DO NOT want to use this WAN1 connection as a primary connection. Would rather keep this as a backup, fail-over WAN1 connection
  • (1X) PCI NIC
    • This NIC has a gateway on the network as well as a WAN2 connection. Would like to use this PCI NIC for external communications only. Is there a way to configure UnRaid to always use this PCI NIC for the WAN2 only?

I most commonly know within the Windows OS you can change the NIC priority "interface matrix" order of the NICs.

I am not sure if I can set this up in the this method and was seeking some clarity.

Thank you.
