earthwormjim
Seagate Exos X18 18TB SATA 7200RPM Hard Drive @ $283.99 People on Slickdeals and in reviews state it is coming with the standard retail warranty when they ran the S/N on Seagate's website. Seagate Exos X16 14TB SATA 7200RPM Hard Drive @ $218.99 Unknown if this comes with the retail warranty, would immediately check upon receiving. 1 1 Quote Link to comment
Tesla3327
Your friendly reminder to check price histories for these. The 'discount' can often be misleading to what the 'normal' price is My real suggestion is to not shop with Amazon (especially on prime day), but if you do, looking at the price history can stomp the impulsiveness of seeing a good deal. 3 Quote Link to comment

Good advice. I also tried to include some B&H, Newegg and ebay where I could. Quote Link to comment
earthwormjim
Credit to derfmcdoogal on Reddit, this is even better $/TB compared with the Seagate Exos deals. Also a known seller, Newegg. WD Red Plus 12TB NAS 7200RPM 256MB Cache Hard Drive @ $179.99 Don't forget this is Paypal quarter for Discover It cards, so that's an extra 5% discount (cash back) too. Canceled my Seagate Exos order for two drives, and changed to three of these Red drives. Would rather replace my older, slower drives, don't particularly need physical space efficiency. smikwily
If you are looking to shuck an external drive from an enclosure, make sure you check the prices on https://shucks.top/ to see if it is a decent price. 1 Quote Link to comment

earthwormjim
My 12TB WD Red Plus drives arrived, when I checked the warranty status, they are showing good til 2027. Did the warranty get silently updated to 5 years on these drives? Quote Link to comment

Why not switch to these? Asking for knowledge not judgement. I don't need the extra capacity at this point, just swapping out crusty old 3TB drives with 80k+ hours. The 12TB were still better $/TB too, at $14.92/TB. The 14TB were right at $15/TB. Edited July 14, 2022 by earthwormjim Quote Link to comment
KieranB1996
Definitely, checking price history is the best idea. Sometimes these deals are misleading, or vendors will stick money on, then place a huge saving to make it seem like a better deal Quote Link to comment
