July 19, 20223 yr Community Expert I have one drive (SMART attached) that shows 3 "Reported uncorrect" events and at the moment 232 errors in Unraid's main page. Count goes up when some area around 30ish% is read. Preparing to replace it, but why is it that reallocated / pending sectors are both 0? Seems if the drive was able to see there's a problem it would be doing one of the things it can about it... Edited June 7, 20242 yr by Kilrah
July 19, 20223 yr Author Community Expert Welp it does show 8 reallocated sectors now after a power cycle, so I guess it's just not updating it "live".

It is, as soon as the drive has the opportunity to properly test that area I think. You should run an extended SMART test on the drive (deactivate spin down for the drive first). In any case, already 8 reallocated sectors after less than 2000 hours is not great.
July 20, 20223 yr Author Community Expert Since I have one I'm preclearing another right now to validate it and will swap it in when it's done tomorrow, will give me an opportunity to experience the rebuild (I have a 2nd copy of the data). Will run the extended test on the bad one just out of curiousity anyway. Then run a comparison with the other copy to see if this would have introduced corruption. It's a shucked drive that was used as portable for probably 1600 of those hours instead of being shucked out of the box so it likely suffered there. Also [insert rant about external cases running the drives way too hot] Edited July 20, 20223 yr by Kilrah
