Copying media files to Unraid

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I have a simple Unraid server with 1 Parity and 2 two TB drives.  I am copying files to the first drive and the first drive now has the following folders:

Movies

Music

TV

the second drive does not have any of these folders.

the first drive has now reached its high water mark of 50% but has not created the folders

Movies

Music

Tv

on Drive-2.  It's essentially blank.

I have a USB drive connected to the server's USB port and i am copying media from this USB drive directly to /mnt/Drive1/Movies using Midnight Commander.  How do I tell unraid to make the directory on the second drive (Drive2) when Drive 1 has reached the 50% point.

Will it hurt the system or cause problems if I manually created the above folders on drive 2?

I know that the Unraid software will create these folders as needed on any of the other drives when copying through the network share.  Is there something that is updated to tell Unraid that a Movies folder exists on Drive-2?

Thanks for the help!

There is a way. Make a user share with high-water allocation and then copy to /mnt/user/share-name and unRAID will write the files to the drives according to allocation method.
