Installed a new nmve 250g today. Unraid allows me to format it, but not mount with out a preclear? How do I get around this?

 

Edit: This is just as a Unassigned Device. not for cache pool.

Well, setting it up as a second pool seemed to work just fine. nm, i guess

Probably just some confusion on how to work with Unassigned Devices. Posting to its support thread with screenshots and diagnostics might have sorted it.

 

preclear on SSDs is never recommended

 

Unraid never requires a clear disk unless adding it to a new data slot in an array that already has valid parity. This is so parity will remain valid. If a disk isn't precleared Unraid will clear it when required, and it is only required in this one scenario.
