First build problems

Featured Replies

I am putting together a new system and have tried 3 different C2SEA boards and I can not get past the POST.  All we get is an unlimited number of beeps.  We have tried a different processor, 4 sticks of memory and can not figure out what the problem is.  Can you give advise on how to solve this problem?  The following is a list of components we are using.

Intel Core 2 Quad Processor 2.66 GHz 1333MHz 4 MB LGA775 CPU BX80580Q8400

You can usually figure it out by what sequence the beeps are. Check the MB-documentation on what the beeps mean.

However, the beeps usually indicate a hardware error..

Steps I would take:

1. Listen to beeps and check docu, if nothing is found then

2. Take out 1 ram and try again

3. Take out other ram and replace with first

Reseat everything.. also CPU

Check under the motherboard for any stray screws or extra stand offs that may have been overlooked.  Last time I ever saw a PC do that (beep continuously with no beep code) was when a friend was building their PC and had dropped a screw under the MB.  Apparently the continuous beep meant a MB short circuit.

Well, still just beeping after checking under the mobo, re-seating memory and cpu also trying each stick of memory by itself.  So I'll get some other memory sticks but it's hard to believe that all 4 sticks are bad.  A friend has had his up and running for over a month now and he is helping me with mine but this is frustrating.

Hmm, on the phone with Crucial and they changed their chip count for this and a revision.  For the Supermicro C2SEA it is Crucial CT25664BA1339.A not the .8FH that I have,  new sticks are on their way and I'll let you know how it goes.
