August 7, 20223 yr Hey, got a question for you guys. Mostly I want to make sure I do everything right so I don't lose my data. I am replacing my ancient server hardware with something newer. I shut down the old box (recorded the drive placements for everything first) and moved everything over to the new box. Powered up and booted to Unraid. The Array won't start but I do see all of my drives present. The array shows "Too many wrong and/or missing disks!" I read some people said to make a new config. How do I do this without losing my existing data? As stated, I'm not adding any new drives, just moving everything over to new hardware. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
August 8, 20223 yr Community Expert Creating a new config doesn't affect the array data, but eliminates Unraid's expectations for the drives. I had a problem where my Parity disc was falling offline due to a power problem... Creating a new configuration allowed me to reset the parity disc without messing with the array data.

I suspect your new/old hardware have disk controllers that don't identify the disks the same way. And that might even be something you need to change about your new hardware. RAID controllers are NOT recommended for this reason and many others. Attach diagnostics to your NEXT post in this thread. Do you have diagnostics from old hardware?
