Audio out from a docker container

Featured Replies

I am a Home Assistant user. Recently they started to implement the ability to play music or sounds from HA. I am looking to move away from using Amazon/Alexa based text to speak. I am trying to build my own system. I am not interested in audio in more output to send alerts and sounds. My server has a sound card and is working. Has anyone tried anything like this. Is there a way to pass the sound card into home assistant and allow, lets say an audio jack out to speakers for my use case.

No sound card drivers on the host server (unraid) so doubtful if getting an audio device to work with Docker especially if its a plug-in card like PCI / PCI Express. Probably easier to get it passed through to a VM and use it that way.

@RasBe this is still experimental but should work:
