Plex Transcoding to RAM

Featured Replies

Hi guys

I have set up plex to transcode to my RAM using IBRACORPS guidance, I'm using a Quadro P600 to do the heavy lifting.

However I have ran into some difficulty where my RAM will fill up and get to 99% utility and things will start to go wrong, it would then trigger my CPU to also be fully utilised at 100% and plex would crash.
I presumed the RAM would be periodically wiped as the media progressed. I suspect I have overlooked a setting in my docker container but I'm struggling to see anything.

Any help would be greatly appreciatedUntitled.thumb.png.78b8efd9dac2fe497c3e72212cb25009.png

I think I've figured it out now

I didn't change my transcoder temporary directory within plex to - /transcode instead of /tmp

That should not have filled your RAM - it would have resulted in the transcode file(s) being written internally to the container rather than the mapped /tmp location that IS in RAM.

Interesting, I'm testing it out now and my RAM has not gone above 68% as yet and does go back down again after some time to around 47%
