August 24, 20223 yr Author about a week or so ago i updated to unraid version 6.10.3. during the upgrade it created a root user whose access i have to use when logging in to unraid. i am unable to edit or delete this user. i am also unable to login in with another user. the other user has pemissions but i do not know how to set them for my root user. i went under tools/new permissions and allowed access to all disks and shares but it will not take. i have done this several times.
August 24, 20223 yr Community Expert root user has always existed. The only change was a password for root user is now required. You cannot delete the root user, and you don't want to. root user only has access to the webUI and command line. All other users only have access to files over the network. You must use one of your other users to access files over the network. If you don't have any other users you can create them in the webUI.
August 24, 20223 yr Community Expert If you have tried to login for file access using the root user, go to Credential Manager in Control Panel and delete any stored credentials for your Unraid server. Then use another user to login for file access. root only has webUI and command line access. To access files on the network you must use another user.
