When I built my Unraid server a year and a half ago, I started with 1 gig DDR2 memory using two sticks. Recently one of the sticks went bad. After I removed the bad stick I had some stuttering on bluray video streams and file transfer speeds were really slow.

 

I put a new stick of 2 gig DDR2 and WOW, transfer speeds are faster then they have ever been and the server is very snappy.
