Swapping NICs

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I had my server up and running for around 60days without any issues.
In the last 10days I started using a 2.5Gbe Nic (RTL8125B) that has give me no issues till yesterday when i restarted my server.
What happened is that somehow eth0 and eth1 configurations have been swapped eachother.

eth0 was supposed to be the Onboard NIC having 192.168.1.0/24 .109 for Unraid IP (LAN/Internet access)

eth1 was supposed to be the dedicated NIC having 10.0.0.0/8 .1 for Unraid (direct access to my MacBook Pro via CalDigit TS4 Dock)

I have already tried detaching the secondary one, deleting config and so on... nothing solved my issue so far.
If I keep only the onboard net into the computer it automatically goes back to eth0.
In Safe Mode I had the same issues...

Find attached my diagnosis.
Thanks for your help.

You can go to Settings - Network Settings - Interface Rules to reassign the NICs, If that doesn't work delete network-rules.cfg and reboot, then go there again.

Unfortunately it's not showing up,
I also tried to manually create a networ-rules.cfg file since there has never been a network-rules.cfg file into boot dir...

Not sure why network-rules is not being created, try renaming/deleting network.cfg also and reboot.

@JorgeB any other suggestion? I'd like to get my server running soon...

I reported this issue to LT, hopefully something can be done, it's strange because it works for most people, but there are at least 3 cases I know of that where it is not working.

Actually in my case also Interface rules is not showing up, so I don't have any network-rules.cfg to delete in my boot drive...

Yes, I know that won't work for you, just mentioning that there were 3 known cases where interface-rules was not working correctly and now there are 2, yours and another one.

Hi Jorge,

any feedbacks from LT?

Not yet, I believe Bonienl is/was with limited availability due to vacation, also this might not be an easy solve, it works for 99% of users, if we are unable to reproduce it might be difficult to fix, but hopefully something can be done.

Hello, any news from LT?

I think I have the same problem, with 2 nics and no network-rules.cfg file. I tried downgrading, another thumb drive, complete new config with no configuration. Still the same. Tell me what do you need to investigate. Thanks in advance.

Delete/rename /boot/config/network.cfg and reboot, note lan settings will go back to defaults.

Already did, even with a complete new thumb drive without my licence, still the same. My actual network.cfg, is what is working now. If I don't assign Mac address manually to my nics, they both get the same hardware address.

Looks like you are also one of the few where it's not working, this might be difficult to fix since we cannot reproduce it, appears to happen with some specific hardware combinations, but I'll add your case to the reported non working.
