I've been trying to passthrough a sata bd drive to a Linux vm. I've tryed the /by-id/ path which did nothing and /dev/sr0 either reports an unable to write error or another one I can't remember. I looked online and no solution seem to work for me.

    Perhaps add a cheap SATA controller card and pass the whole card through?

    I thought about that, but I don't have any spare lanes to ad a card and the iommu on my board sucks

    Were you able to get this working? I find myself needing to rip CDs in a Windows VM. I tried a year or so ago but never could get it working.
