Disk Errors (Brand New) after Running UD Preclear

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I know this topic comes up a lot, but just wanted to get some advice.

As per the title, I just got a brand new Seagate Exos (X18) 14TB drive and ran it through UD Preclear to sanity check everything before adding it as a replacement parity drive.

Preclear encounter errors in post-read, with S.M.A.R.T.: Reported_Uncorrect, Current_Pending_Sector and Offline_Uncorrectable all Up by 1

I then ran a SMART extended self-test and this also flagged errors. I've attached both reports to this post.

What is the best course of action, just return the drive and ask for a replacement & reference these error reports?

Thanks!

Definitely return it
