June 13, 201115 yr I am new to unRAID, so please forgive my ignorance. I have the plus version and I want to create 2 shares. Share 1 is for public backup (i.e. anyone can read/write files) Share2 is private for the boss only (i.e. only the boss should have access and noboby else should know it is there) The boss will also need to access the Share1. My attempts to do this have left me only able to connect to one or the other, but not both shares. I am doing this on Windows 7. Any advice or link to a tutorial is appreciated. Greg
June 13, 201115 yr Which version are you running? Essentially, Share1 is set to export, r/w, secrity set to public, everyone has access. Share2 is set to export, hidden. Put basic security on it and make a user for your boss, giving him r/w to the share. Then map the drive for share2. That should be it. Shawn
June 14, 201115 yr Author Version 4.7 PLUS How do I set security to public? It seems with User Level set for Share Security that everyone requires a user/password to access the server and with it set to Simple, it is not possible to set any security for shares. With User Level set, I am also finding that after mapping a share to a drive in Windows and setting it to re-connect after login it requires a user/password again... shouldn't it remember the credentials?
June 14, 201115 yr Version 4.7 PLUS How do I set security to public? Create a user named "public" with password "public" or leave the password blank. It seems with User Level set for Share Security that everyone requires a user/password to access the server and with it set to Simple, it is not possible to set any security for shares. Use User level: http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php?title=Un-Official_UnRAID_Manual#Exceptions With User Level set, I am also finding that after mapping a share to a drive in Windows and setting it to re-connect after login it requires a user/password again... shouldn't it remember the credentials? It should remember.
