UNraid collapse, request advice.

Featured Replies

Hi,

I was wondering if anybody could give some advice. My sata controller failed on me so 3 out of my 6 drives where wiped making my UNRaid knackered. Luckily of the failed 1 was the parity, another was totally blank and the 3rd was just my dvd rips which I don't mind losing. I have put the 3 remaining drives in my pc and backed up the most important files via YAReG and everything seems fine with them. However there are still hundreds of GB of random HD stuff which would takes ages to copy so my question before I do anything else is can I add these 3 drives as they are to start an new unraid with the files still being there or would they be erased? I was using version 4.7 with it happened and my flash files all seem to be there but configured to the 6 drive setup.

Thanks for any advice,

Ste.

Are you certain those drives were wiped?  A failed SATA controller seems unlikely to do this.

They were all corrupt and unreadable when putting them in my pc asking to initilize them, the other 3 showed up fine. I'm certain they are now though as I've used them to back up the 3 ok unraid drives. Basically now I have all my files on 3 x NTSF drives and the original 3 left in ResierFS. If I can instantly use them three as is for a new Unraid I will, just rebuild a new parity? I could try it now but don't to press the wrong button so wondered if it had been tried before.

Ste.

They should work as is. Just rebuild parity. If unRAID does not recognize them or gives the option to format, STOP and report back here.
