Unmountable: Unsupported Partition Layout

Featured Replies

Hello,  I am trying to add a new 12TB drive to my array. I pre cleared the disk prior to adding it to the array. When I added the disk to the array, it says it was unmountable (b/c I hadn't formatted it yet). I went ahead and formatted the drive, but the format stops after a couple of seconds and now the drive says it's Unmountable: Unsupported Partition Layout.  Im attaching the diagnostics.

What do you get from the command line with this?

fdisk -l /dev/sdf

I am re-running the pre-clear.  Something tells me I did something wrong after the pre-clear finished.  I'm not doing the pre/post reads, just the clear.  I'll try to add it again and see what happens.  It's a 12TB drive, so it's gonna be a while for it to pre-clear.

You needed to reboot first:

Sep 10 08:47:47 Gringotts root: Warning: The kernel is still using the old partition table.
Sep 10 08:47:47 Gringotts root: The new table will be used at the next reboot or after you
Sep 10 08:47:47 Gringotts root: run partprobe(8) or kpartx(8)
