[Solved] Looking to migrate to Unraid question

Featured Replies

Hello. I currently am using Open Media Vault for my home nas and looking to migrate to Unraid. My question is I already have 2 existing mirror raids (2x2tb-2x6tb) formatted with ext4. Would I just be able to plug in the Unraid boot usb, and it see the existing raids without data loss, or would I have to copy everything off, reformat, and copy back? Thank you.

Alright. I was afraid you'd say that. Ok I'll have to wait t get unraid till I can get an external drive big enough to backup the current server too then. Thank you again.

You should always have backups anyway. Parity is not a substitute

I do what's within my budget friend. if I could afford GOOD backups I'd be following the 3's rule (3 forms of backup) :)

You get to decide what is important enough

You could install unraid on a USB and then use unassigned.devices to copy your data on to a new disk in the array.
