Moving a drive - unraid to unraid

Featured Replies

hi, i have 2 unraid servers running, no parity on both.

what I want to do is remove 2 drives (chiaplots) from unraid#1 array

and add them to unraid#2 array.

will unraid just incorporate the drives into unraid#2 after I add them to the array?

or will it tell me to format drive and erase it?

thanks

Depends if your Array is parity protected. If it is not, you should be able to add it as is.

If it is, you will have to do a New config and rebuild parity.

thanks, no parity just chiaplots

There should not be a pop up saying that you have to format.

You'll also need to do a new config after removing any drives so that the array will start with the remaining ones.

Just wanna say that unraid is amazing!  easy transfer of 12 bay enclosure from one server to another, unplugged the sff-8088 cable from one server and plugged it into another server, add the drives to array and BAM!!!!!!! All is showed up!

Thanks for a great piece of software!
