Another extremely slow parity sync!

Featured Replies

Just built my unRAID machine, and parity sync says it's going to take about 90 days. I formatted everything before starting parity sync. I've rebooted to see if that would help. No dice. I've attached my diagnostics. Any ideas on what to try next? Thanks in advance!

You rebooted before getting diagnostics, we can't tell what was happening before that.

Start parity sync again, get new diagnostics while the problem is occurring, and attach them to your NEXT post in this thread

Thanks for the quick response, and sorry about that! Here is my new diagnostics.

I rebuilt the array, and I saw SMART errors for one of my disks. I removed that disk [and another old disk] from the array, and now it's saying it will take about 2.5 days. does that seem more accurate?

2 - 3 hours per TB of parity is reasonable.

No I/O errors in syslog yet.

Do any of your disks have SMART warnings on the Dashboard page?

Thanks again for your quick response.

One of my disks in the array had SMART messages, not errors. I've kept that disk in the array. Another disk indeed had SMART errors, which I removed from the array.

On the Dashboard page (not the Main page), there is an area in the lower right that shows each of your disks, with column labeled SMART. It should show either 👍or 👎depending on whether the disk has SMART warnings
