I unmounted the drive and added it in as an unassigned drive.  It spins up.

Do you mean you are trying to ADD the disk to a new slot in the parity array? Or are you trying to use it to REPLACE the disabled disk shown in your first screenshot?

You can't ADD a disk when you have a disabled disk.

The system did run through the data rebuild.

I don't understand how you are using the phrase "spin up". Of course the disk had to "spin up" to rebuild to it. What do you really mean?

Also, that screenshot showed disk2 disabled. Do you mean it became disabled again after rebuild?

I apologize maybe I should have said enabled since the red x said disabled and that the contents have been emulated.  I am replacing a old drive with this one.   I would like to eventually add a second parity drive.  The diagnostic zip is big what files from it would be helpful.  The one that sticks out to me is the smart folder and the syslog.  The disk I replaced said Disk Dsbl.

So instead of "spinup" you really meant "enabled"?

Diagnostics is a single zip file and all files within it are txt so it isn't big at all.

If you think it is a bunch of separate files and folders it is because your computer automatically opens zip files. Find the single diagnostics zip file wherever your downloads go and attach to your NEXT post.

Unlike the screenshot diags show that the disk is now rebuilding, if the rebuild fails post new diags before rebooting.

I thought I would try adding it back in but it failed like last time and has paused at 98.8 percent.  Here is the current diags.

That disk doesn't look very healthy:

Elements in grown defect list: 2812

You should replace it.

Thank you.  I was wondering that.
