Is this disk dead?

Featured Replies

  • Disk 4 disabled yesterday and the Unraid Main tab shows 2048 errors.
  • Log shows multiple write errors.
  • SMART self-test has been going 12+ hours. It's at 80%, so progress is being made, but terribly slow.
  • Attributes tab of Disk 4 does not show any issues.
  • Dashboard tab shows 'Healthy'

It's not logged as a disk problem and SMART looks OK ,so most likely a power/connection issue, but wait for the SMART test result to confirm.

Thanks. I will let the SMART self-test complete.

Is there a way to figure out what the 2048 errors showing on the Main tab are related to? I would expect to see something relevant in the Disk's Attributes tab, but that looks clean -- as you noted, it's not logged as a disk problem. So what are the 2048 errors then and why was the disk disabled?

Since it doesn't look like a disk problem there won't be anything on SMART showing that, it's normal if it's a power/connection issue.

That seems reasonable for 8TB
