Parity Build Keeps crashing After build upgrade to Ryzen 3950x

Featured Replies

I made the mistake of updating my server to a ryzen build with some unused parts I had.

The server loaded fine so I thought no issues. I decided to upgrade my parity drive as well since I had some larger drives on hand. Since then the party build/sync has consistently failed. I've tried safe mode as well. When it fails different things happen and there's nothing I can see in the logs as an obvious culprit.

Issues I've witnessed:

  • GUI crashes completely or is unresponsive intermittently before completely crashes
  • When this happens generally the IP is inaccessible via terminal as well
  • Several CPU Cores stuck at 100%
  • Estimate increasing on finishing parity build
  • Every so often the GUI refreshes on it's own (this happens even with the array down/no build. The page will just flicker/refresh sometimes)

Main Build parts:

  • Ryzen 3950x
  • Asus CrossHair VIII
  • g.skill neo - 3600 -> I have lowered this in bios to 3200 to match a chart I saw on another forum thread for ryzen builds
  • Corsair RMx850
  • 2 WD Red 8TB
  • 1 WD Red 12tb
  • 1 WD Red 14tb (old parity unassigned)
  • 3 WD Red 18tb (1 new partiy, 2 unassigned)

Things I've tried:

  • Monitoring with htop to see what happens when CPU gets stuck (disconnects so i'm not sure what it was)
  • Safe Mode parity build (failed/became unresponsive - May have had too many things open/checking)
  • Upgraded to Unraid 6.11

Currently the GUI has not crashed, but the estimate is at 692 days and still increasing with no change in the parity completion.

Diagnostics attached and recent troubleshooting syslogs attached for the last couple days.

Any help would be appreciated.

The c-state is the one thing I hadn't explicitly disabled. I can try that out and see if it builds. Ram should match at this point though and I don't see any other issues. Will update if it builds/fails.

Edit: So far at ~32%. Hasn't made it this far since the first try. Crossing my fingers.

Edit2: Build has slowed down, but is still progressing. at 71.3%

Edit3: Parity build completed.
