It seems crazy to me that 2 drives were messed up and my main parity drive seems like it's going to be needing a replacement too. Is this common? Maybe I should not have ordered all exact same drives at the same time? Bad batch or something?

Parity should be OK for now, but those are low end SMR drives, and based on the number of issues I've seen with them they are probably not the most reliable Seagate drive.

Do you have any recommendations for replacement drives that are at least 8T? I don't really want to do this again in the future 😀

Nothing special other than in general avoid SMR drives, Seagate Ironwolf/Ironwolf Pro, WD Red (for 8TB or larger) and Toshiba N300 are good options.
