October 14, 20223 yr My server is showing tons of /dev/SDA errors. Failing sectors etc. It's still running right now. Is there an easy ti back up my system before I reboot and reinstall? I have backups of my files and stuff on the array. My USB backup is rather old though .
October 14, 20223 yr Community Expert Get a printout of all your drive assignments. Basically a screen capture of the Main Page. Get printouts of each Docker settings. Same thing for any VM's. Get a printout of the Plugins tab so you know which ones you had installed. Get printouts of all the pages on the Settings tab where you have made changes. Get the diagnostics file. (You may never need any of these, but if you have them, they can save a lot of headaches.) At the point you have some options: Try to make a backup of the flash by going to the Main tab, click on 'Flash', now there is a "FLASH BACKUP" button. BUT I suspect that may fail because, you indicate that you have failing sectors. So be prepared for that possibility. Shut the server down. Start by stopping the array, any running Dockers or VM's. You could try for a normal shutdown but this involves a write to the Flash Drive which may fail. That failure may cause further problems on the drive. Personally, I would force an unclean shutdown by pushing the power button for about ten seconds. While this means that Unraid will want to do a parity check when you start things back, you should not have any parity errors if you stopped everything that might be writing when you forced the shutdown. Pull the Flash drive and put it in your PC and copy the /config directory/folder. That folder contains all of the setting for your server. The see if you can get a copy of the entire flash drive. Prepare the new flash drive. IF you got a clean copy of the /config folder when you copied it, overwrite that folder on the new flash drive. Boot the server and transfer the license. Otherwise, use those printouts to reconfigure your server. Good luck!
