October 15, 20223 yr I have an HGST 1.6TB SAS connected to my Dell H310 HBA. I want to use this drive to replace my m.2's (I already purchased another one for a cache pool) but this drive won't populate at all in Unraid. I have never used the drive so it's possible that it's dead but I don't know how I should procceed? The LED lights up and other SAS drives work without issues.
October 15, 20223 yr Community Expert Post the diagnostics, something might might be visible there, also make sure the drive is spinning up.

October 16, 20223 yr Community Expert Nothing in the log that I can see, do you hear the drive spinning up? You can also install a BIOS on the HBA then check if it's being detected there, if not it also won't be detected by Unraid.

The drives don’t populate in the MB bios. I’m thinking the drive needs to be formatted but it’s pretty hard to do that if Unraid can’t see it’s connected.
October 16, 20223 yr Community Expert It's not a case of formatting, it's a case of the drive not being detected 3 hours ago, JorgeB said: do you hear the drive spinning up?

The enclosure has an activity LED for this drive (bay5) that is solid all the time. There is one others SAS HDD (bay1) in the same enclosure and its light is solid like this one but works without issue. Bays 2, 3 and 4 are SATA and the light is only on during activity.

October 17, 20223 yr Community Expert Solution The device is not being detected, not much you can do on the Unraid side.
