Moved files not updating user shares

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am experiencing some problems when moving files on a user share. I have a user share named videos (split level = 3). In that share I have a directory called Dvd and Series. Up to now, I have been putting all DVDs (VIDEO_TS folder and preview jpg) in the in the Dvd directory without sorting into genres. A couple of days ago I decided to sort the dvds into genres and created 8 new directories under the Dvd directory, for example action, comedy, SciFi etc.

When moving dvd folders I noticed that often not everything in a dvd folder would move to its new genre directory. This was worrying and after stopping and starting the array the missing files and folders were where they should be.

Is this normal? It should not be necessary to stop and start the array to see changes made on a user share should it?

I use OS X to mount the user shares.

Another question I have is about atime. Why is atime not updated when browsing the user shares? When watching series, I don't always know which episodes I have seen. With atime I would see this.

Thanks,

Roland

I will try to reproduce this.

As for the 'atime' and 'diratime' optons - the drives are mounted with these turned off.  At the moment I can't remember why we did this exactly  :-\  It was either because it caused the drives to spin up all the time or there was a performance issue.

I have the same issue, split set to three.

I still copy the files to \tower\disk10, as I prefer to copy it to a specific drive

The folder structure is \tower\unraid\dvds.

The new folders do not appear unless I stop and start unraid.

I had the same issue. In 4.2.x when writing to directly to the disk shares the user (folder) shares will not be updated until the array is stopped and started again.

I think the plan is to put the Rescan button back into the management utility.

This is even odder. I thought that I would add a • to the dvd folders that I have watched, for example: • An Evening With Kevin Smith and the VIDEO_TS folder disappeared. I haven't stopped the array yet, but I figure that would make the VIDEO_TS folder show up again, but this is unpractical.

I've been having the same problems with 4.2.1. If I write to the user shares everything is fine. If I write to a disk share then the files do not show up in the user shares unless I restart the array. Bringing the rescan button back would be a big help. Other than that my unRaid has been running great.

I am using user shares. I don't mount the disks.
