Write speed dropping.

Featured Replies

I used to be able to write at about 48MB/s but then it went down to 35 then 30 and now its at about 21 to 28.

I know that there can be many things that could be going wrong but can someone tell me where to start?

As disks fill, the inner cylinders on the disks cannot be read or written as fast as the outer cylinders.  There might not be anything wrong.

Are your disks getting full?

When a disc had only 150gb left it still wrote at 40-48MB/s. I set mine to Fill Up. On one occasion though unraid refused to write to one disc which had only 103gb left. It started writing and then stopped at 20%. I tried to write the file about 5 times but each time is stopped at 20%. So I switched to "High Water" and it wrote on the next disc. I have set the min free space to 80gb.

I think I have resolved the write issue. I went into the properties of my laptops Realtek GBE and disabled Flow Control and Interupt Moderation and now my write speeds are about 35MB/s to 42MB/s.

I a now on beta 12a. The writing speed keeps bouncing from 21MB/s to 50MB/s.

There is nothing in the syslog.

Can someone help me with this?

Write speed is slowly getting worse. Its drops to as low as 11mb/s and then rises to 36mb/s and alternates between the two.
