Enable Plex transcoding with multiple GPUs

Featured Replies

I have multiple GPUs.  i5 10400 and NVidia 1050 (see image)

When setting up the Plex Container and adding the --device=/dev/dri should I use /dev/dri/card? to select the card I wish to use?  If i leave /card? off will Plex just select card0?

Thanks!

*PUSH* Same issue. I have 1 IGPU and 2 additional GPU's. Plex is not using the IGPU when the others are installed and not passthroughed to the VM's.

I just built out an Intel 13900K which also has an nVidia 1660 card on it. The graphics card is not used by any VMs; it would be nice to somehow load share / balance between the two cards. Unsure how OP got both the nVidia and i905 drivers to show up in /dev/dri, but here is my outputs.

Have you enabled the igpu in bios?

Did you install the required software from the „community apps“ store?

You have to install nvidia drivers and also for intel.

But this does not solve your problem completely as i have the same issue.

Its not possible to use the intel igpu when installed more gpus…

So I kept all the nVidia configuration in place which I knew was working and then added the /dev/dri as a new device. Once I did that, the iGPU was the first targeted GPU to do the work. Unfortunately I'm a bit out of time to try and max out the iGPU and see if it'll roll over to the nVidia card.

Accord to this page (https://forums.serverbuilds.net/t/guide-hardware-transcoding-the-jdm-way-quicksync-and-nvenc/1408/2) it should work like this - "Plex will use QuickSync first in case of both a iGPU and Nvidia GPU installed."
