Hey, bet you get hundreds of these, but I'm new (as is everybody else) and was just wondering whether the following would work okay for my new build unraid server (I read the guides and threads about new builds and my main concern is the PSU)

I currently have a Hitachi 2Tb drive That i'll pop into it and also a 1Tb samsung F1 and 500Gb Samsung drive (not sure what though)

For now 5.5Tb will be enough but would like to be able to expand upto 10-15Tb in the future so 8 Drives + Cache + Parity

 

Hopefully all that should work together, I'm trying to do this on the cheap so if I can drop the price anywhere above please help me find something cheaper budget around £300 with unRAID pro license

From what I have read on here you should be fine. You are looking for a single 12v rail which that one is. I seem to remember the green drives will pull around 13 W. I am basing my 15 drive setup on 500 w.

I've just installed unraid basic on my USB as per the guide and booted onto my main pc so I can find the GUID and order my pro license but I don't know what I'm doing in short

 

I'm met by welcome to Linux 2.6.32.9-unRAID (ttyl)

From here I'm lost, I've typed root to get in but all I need is guid nothing more

I've glanced at FAQ and google searched how to find it and don't know where to go, please help...

To get to the management utility..

Log into the unraid box via the cli...

Type in..  ifconfig  (This will give you the IP address of your unRAID box.)

Browse to the unRAID webpage via the IP you got in the step above.

Next, open the Management Utility in your browser and click on the Devices page. Using your mouse, select the Flash GUID value displayed there (exactly 27 characters), and copy/paste into the form below.

I don't know on that. I am waiting for my second USB drive to arrive so I can order mine too.
