I have an Asus maximus extreme XI board with 9900k as my unraid server . The motherboard has a 1G LAN port and a 5G LAN port, the 1G works fine but the 5G just appears dead and unresponsive but in the bios it is activated. Would appreciate any help as to why I cannot get the 5G port to become active.  Ive just upgraded to 1G Fibre which the router has a 2.5G port which is connected to the server on the 1G Lan that is working.

The other NIC is being detected and the driver is loaded, it's not detecting a link though, and it's in a bond with eth0, do you intend to use them together?

No i dont intend to do that i just want to take advantage of the 2.5G router connection. So why do you think it doesnt connect i.e. teh LAN yellow and green lights dont light up and also cannot see it connected on the modem/router

Try a different cable/switch.
