One SSD enough for my needs ?

Featured Replies

Hello,

Coming from a Synology NAS, I would like to build an Unraid server but I have one interrogation.

Can I, with only one large NVME SSD, do all these things simultaneously :
- Using it as a cache drive
- Installing docker containers on it. And if it's possible, running the container on the SSD but add data access to the HDD pool ?
- Installing on it one or two VMs

If yes, is it recommended or should I have two ?

(I will have two HDD beside that)

Thanks in advance

You can do all those (space permitting).

Note that if there is only one drive then there is no redundancy and you need to make sure the docker and VM information gets backed up periodically (a good idea even with redundancy).
