Time machine backup fails to create sparsebundle on AFP

Featured Replies

I just completed a fresh install of unraid 5b7.  I've been trying to get time machine to work but no luck.  Here's what I've done and the outcome.

I created a disk share and disk1 with AFP export via timemachine and secure security.  I login using a created user and password

I mount the disk, open time machine preferences and can select it.  After the backup starts, its get stuck on "making backup disk available".

After a while I get the message: "The backup disk image "/Volumes/disk1-1/[computer name].sparsebundle could not be created (error1)."

stuck on this now and was hoping for help.  I've also tried with a user share and on my 2nd mac and no luck.  any suggestions?

might be worth mentioning that a sparsebundle shows up on the disk, but its fairly small - anywhere between 0-300mb

Can anyone confirm that they've managed to you tm out of the box without manually creating a sparsebunle

thanks - I've seen a couple other posts that suggest this may be a bug.  a little disappointing because i put together a fresh build for this.  Well I've posted by log in post so maybe someone can take a loot.  I'm jus stumped at this point

Is there a wiki i refer to for setting up TM under Unraid 5.  I haven't been able to find one

My syslog looks the same but it works fine for me. Did you create a user?

This is how I have mine setup. Apart from a few small authentication log issues, no problems with two Macs to the same share.

funny you're weub gui looks very different from mine - much cleaner.  It also has the options for quest under AFP where mine doesn't.  Other than that I'm setup the same way

the update from me is that I manually created a sparsebundle and timemachine picked it up and has started backing up.  i've left for work but will post up update when I get home.

You should try my webGui, link in my signature  :)

Make sure that you have SMB export set to NO for the TM share.
