MSI 890FXA-GD70

Featured Replies

Just wondering if anyone has tried the - MSI 890FXA-GD70 - motherboard. Got a good price at tigerdirect.com store in Dallas. $184.99 with a $20.00 rebate. Want to make sure it is UNRAID worthy.

Thanks,

k.

I have this same board in my gaming rig paired with an AMD Phenom II Six Core.  I used it to configure my first unraid setup, and from what I can remember everything was supported.  I am almost positive everything works, but if you want I can boot it up tonight and try testing it out.  Make sure unmenu works and my plugins.  I can let you know how it goes.  As this is my first post I will mention that I don't know too much about the Linux side of unraid so Ill try to run what I can on it.

P.S.  this board is super overkill for unraid, even with air-video, java (minecraft server) I don't think you would be using all of the power it has, but if your like me then you want the best, so you dont run out :)

Agree on the overkill for Unraid. I was wanting to run a MySQL server as well. Still overkill for these 2 functions. I loved the 5 PCI-E slots. Have you been able to find a SATA III  controller with 4 or 8 ports for this thing? Would love to find a SATA III controller to work with Unraid.

Thanks for the info.
