Which SATA Board?

Featured Replies

Hey folks...

I've got six ports on my SUPERMICRO X8SIL-F-O board, and I'm about to need more.  I'm planning to go up to 20 drives in my Antec 1200...

Is the SuperMicro AOC-SASLP-MV8 really the best board for me to get?  I'd like to minimize power consumption as much as reasonably possible, but I'd like to get 8 ports.  (And I'd like a solution that is not going to give me problems with 3TB+ drives)

Newegg doesn't exactly have the best review rating for this card.  But there aren't a lot of PCIe 8 port cards mentioned in the Unraid HW compatibility list.

Thanks :)

Remember, the current stable version does not support 3TB drives.

Read the posts in the appropriate forum -- http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?board=37.0

As mentioned there, the newest beta supporta better SATA controllers controllers like any of the LSI 2008 based cards.

OMG thanks - I did look in this board for SATA board posts and completely missed the other board.  Duh.

I found the BR10i thread separately by google.

Thanks for taking the time to reply to my OT message :)

The SASLP cards are supposed to support 3 TB drives as well, though the BR10i is also a good choice (just more expensive).
