Adding a second SSD into cache - is it worth it?

Featured Replies

First question - is it worth it?  I have 16TB and one 224GB SSD for my cache.  I have a couple more SSDs lying around - 240GB, 180GB, and smaller.  Is it worth adding them in as additional cache drives?

I have other questions related to this process but first thought I would start with the "is it worth it"?  Thanks.

only if your use of the quicker cache drive requires higher than current cache drive capacity

And how would I know this?  Does it warn you about this or do you just check it to make sure it is not full all of the time?  Thanks.

you would know it by the amount of data you need to

- copy quickly

- have available on the quicker SSD drive due to performance

- be proteced thus stored on the HDD with parity as the SSD data is not protected by parity

so it really comes up to your use case and type of data and type of storage requirements
