July 1, 201115 yr Apparently the folks over at BackBlaze do... they get 67TB per machine on their rack (probably more since this page is 2 years old)... I hadn't seen this and thought some of you might find it interesting: http://blog.backblaze.com/2009/09/01/petabytes-on-a-budget-how-to-build-cheap-cloud-storage/ Russell
July 1, 201115 yr Author Must be a huge company - apparently BackBlaze only has 10 PetaBytes: http://blog.backblaze.com/2011/01/05/10-petabytes-visualized/ Russell
July 1, 201115 yr 1 big system with 50 PB, 1 big system with 90PB and a 150PB data warehouse system to mine the data from the first two. Add about 5 PB a year. All on HP SAN array's.... blows my mind what it costs to run these systems. Backblaze doesn't indicate if it has any form of redundancy.. 67TB raw used as is, or 67TB (-) RAID overhead? if the wind blows, will their cloud turn into a clear blue sky?
