Transmission Remote GUI

Featured Replies

Greetings all...

I'm very new to unRAID and I'm trying to get Transmission up and running on it.

I have it installed on the unRAID server. I can start/stop the daemon just fine...

I can access the "Transmission Web Interface" just fine...but from what I have been reading, the "Transmission Remote GUI" is better/easier to use. Is this the consensus????

What do I put in the TR Gui settings??

UNDER "CONNECTION"

Remote Host: (My server/Tower IP address???? In this case:  http://192.168.178.22            )

User name: (leave blank?)

Password: (leave blank?)

Under "PATHS"

Completely confused here...not really sure what to put...I have 10 data disks, with various shares such as MOVIES and TV SHOWS, etc.

And lastly (for now anyway)...once I do get these settings squared away....

How do I start downloading/seeding?

I use; piratebay.net and eztv for most of my torrents...is there a better one for use with Transmission???

THANKS FOR ANY AND ALL HELP!!!!  I'm in the US Military and I don't have too much free time to dig through all the forums......again, thank you for anything you can help give me to clue me in much better here!!!!

Should work

Assuming you did not set one then yes, leave it blank

Password: (leave blank?)

see above

I do not have anything listed in the Paths section.

A torrent is a torrent is a torrent.  Just download the .torrent file as normal and then click the add torrent button in the Transmission Remote GUI app.

Another note here about Tranmission GUI setup:

I'm on 3.2 http://code.google.com/p/transmisson-remote-gui/

Open Containing Folder path mappings:

Tools > Connection Options > Paths (tab)

/mnt/user/mp3/music=\\DUMBO\mp3\music

Where

/mnt/user/mp3/music is my base download directory where all the music lives

\\DUMBO\mp3\music is from Windows Explorer, DUMBO is the server name, mp3 is the share, music is the sub-dir

Boy is it nice to have Open Containing Folder working!

hi all,

is it possible to set up Transmission Remote GUI keep working when i leave home, so my laptop stop connecting to my local network?

Now I setted to remote host the IP of unraid server which generated my home router (192.168.1.121). But its an internal IP.

What should I set when I would like to connect to my home unraid servers Transmission seed system with this GUI from my laptop (out of home) from anywhere? I would like to add for example a new torrent from my office TO my home unraid Transmission seed server... is it possible anyhow?

It is possible but not secure.  If you start opening the ports needed to do this that could allow an attack.

You need to set up a VPN on your home network if you want it to be secure.

I us a router with DDWRT installed on it and a VPN set up on that.

Also do a search here on the forums for hamachi VPN.  That you should be able to get installed on unRAID and set up.  I have not done it myself so won't be much/any help with that.

ok, ty
