July 2, 201115 yr Hello all. Can someone teach me how to install torrent server from unmenu? Can't find it in package manager.
September 18, 201114 yr Ditto. . . I also am trying to do this. I'm reading the official thread here: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=8736.0 But I can't seem to figure out how to do this? I know it must be simple, but I'm stuck. I see there is a file: transmission-unmenu-package.conf" that can be downloaded from the forum, but what do I do with it? I've also ready posts that make it sound as if i'm supposed to install it through unmenu. I've browsed through the "pkg manager" and "user scripts" page and do not see any mention of Transmission. Help would be greatly appreciated!
September 18, 201114 yr Put the conf file inside unmenu folder in your flash drive then install from unmenu.... change installation to a protect or cache drive.... Sent from my LG-P990 using Tapatalk
September 18, 201114 yr Thanks, I'm familiar with the cache drive, but what is the "protect drive"? Are people not using transmission to download to the normal shared drives on the server? Are people keeping it separate? I'd like to be able to seed long term and was hoping it would just be on my normal server "shared" folders? Is this right?
September 19, 201114 yr Wel yes you can do that, but then those drives will spinning all the time. Installing to cache drive only this drive will be occupied and since on cache drive files can be moved to the array at specific folder automatic at a time you choose. :-) Sent from my LG-P990 using Tapatalk

Sent from my LG-P990 using Tapatalk I put the conf into the flash drive and then rebooted the system. However, I still don't see "transmission" under the "pkg manager" or "user scripts" etc. How is it installed from within UnMenu, once I copy the conf file to the flash drive. So then if you install to the cache drive and a completed torrent gets moved to the main array, then would it still be able to seed after it has been moved? Thanks for helping I really appreciate it.
September 19, 201114 yr You have to put the conf file in the unmenu folder on the flash. A protected drive is a drive in the unRAID array (ie disk1 to disk20). Peter

Peter Actually, you can put package.conf files in EITHER the /boot/unmenu folder, or in the /boot/packages folder. If you put it in the unmenu folder, it will be moved to the /boot/packages folder the first time you use the package manager link in unMENU. Joe L.
September 23, 201114 yr Thanks for everyone's help. I figured out why I couldn't see it in the pkg manager. When I saved the file it put a ".html" file extension after the ".conf" for some reason. Anyhow, I'm still stuck though because it won't install now. I saw the warning about not installing it on the flash drive so I chose /mnt/disk9/transmission and changed the download directory to: /mnt/user/movies everything else I left as default. When I click on install it give me an error and says: transmission-unraid-0.0.2-i386-bubba.tgz installation: gzip: stdin: unexpected end of file tar-1.13: Cannot add file *: No such file or directory tar-1.13: Error exit delayed from previous errors Verifying package transmission-unraid-0.0.2-i386-bubbaQ.tgz. The folder on disc9 was created ok. but there is only a few files in it totaling 16 kb Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

I almost have an update done that will hopefully fix the problems in the original package. I should have it released for beta testing by the end of this weekend. Maybe tonight... depending on if I fall asleep when I get home from work.
