2 Issues with Wireguard and Pihole

Featured Replies

Hello everyone!

I am new to Unraid but I'm really liking it so far! One of the things I am interested in getting to work is pihole and wireguard. I have set up the pihole docker and it seems to be working fine on my LAN. It is also my DHCP server now and is performing that job as it should.

I set up the wireguard tunnel on Unraid and set up my phone for remote tunnel access as I think this is the way I can make use of my pihole when I'm not at home. I also set my laptop up as a peer on the vpn. I'm running into 2 issues.

First, I am not able to get any device on the VPN to use my pihole docker for DNS queries. They are set to use it as a DNS server but they are not. I have added a secondary DNS to their config which is what they are using everytime. They are not showing up in my pihole query log. At first, I thought I was having issues reaching my LAN via the VPN, but I can ping everything that's not a docker container and even remotely access my Unraid server via the GUI.

Second, my laptop is on the vpn but I cannot ping it from the interface. I can ping the interface from my laptop though. It's very odd.

I have added a static route to my router for my VPN network. I have turned off the 'Local server uses NAT' setting in Unraid. Here is my diagnostic file.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
