Flash drive dropped

Featured Replies

Noticed some poor performance this morning, logged in to the UI and saw that my flash drive was missing.  I plugged it into my Windows machine and it looks fine.  I plugged it back in to my Unraid server, it mounted up on /dev/sdi1, and looks intact.  The system is still running, but can't find the boot drive at /dev/sdb.  Not sure what the root cause is, or what I should do next.

Sounds as if the flash drive dropped offline?

The flash drive must stay online all the time Unraid is running, and Unraid cannot handle it not being present.  If it drops offline then the only possible recovery action is to reboot the server.

USB2 port may be more reliable

There is a "Flash remount" plugin in CA that should attempt to remount it if it drops.

Thanks all.  I was concerned that the drive was hosed and that I might lose something, but it wasn't.  A reboot cleared this up.

Keep regular backups of the flash drive in case it quits for good.
